Life’s List

We’ve been penpals a very long time at this point. Here are some things that we’ve shared over the years to give us perspective.

  • Life is more than the $856u.
  • It doesn’t matter who gets the credit. What matters is what gets done.
  • Tell the woman you love that you love her until she tells you to shut up.
  • Do not underestimate the good you can do. You are better than many. So start, do something, even small.
  • “I have often regretted my speech, but never my silence. ”
~Publilius Syrus
  • Smile more.
  • Do not say false things (as a joke) to make people laugh.
  • Learn to let go of small things — learn to not make a big fuss over small things. How to decide what are “small things”? If something makes you mad, think if five years later, this thing will make you just as mad as you are now. If yes, then sure, make some noise; if no, then just let it go.
  • On anger (from religion):
    • “A man said to the Prophet, ‘Give me advice.’ The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, ‘Do not get angry.’ The man asked repeatedly and the Prophet answered each time, ‘Do not get angry.’”
    • “When one of you becomes angry while standing, he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down.”
    • “If one of you becomes angry then he should stay silent.”
  • Count your blessings
